Below are some YouTubers that we believe deserve this honor.

YouTube influencers

YouTube influencers are in the spotlight since the last few years. Many stars have made it onto the Hollywood Walk of Fame. From Madelaine Petsch to the Rock, YouTube has been a major force in the entertainment industry. YouTube has been used by celebrities like Katy Perry to reach their fans. YouTube has 2 billion users! These influencers are the ones who have made it possible for stars to follow their lead.

In June, Stranger Things star Hannah Pennyworth announced she was nominated for her video series, "The Dolan Twins." Although she was supportive of other YouTubers, Pennyworth later asked Dobrik for permission to remove the video. After Hannah reached out to Dobrik, she took it down. This is just the beginning for the success of influencers. These YouTube stars have set their sights on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

YouTube Pranksters

Pranksters from YouTube have become so popular that they have received their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His first stunt was to do a backflip and knock two police officers out. While the video was rolling, the officers confronted him. The video was viral and received more than 11 million views. Although the prankster was initially arrested, he settled with prosecutors. His stunts have garnered a loyal following and have landed him in hot water.

In Greenville, SC, YouTube prankster Andre Eugene Moore-Gerald has targeted several victims with whipped cream. He posted to his 123 subscribers under the name "Savage_dre" and is being sought on a misdemeanor battery and assault charge. He also allegedly attacked a woman pulling a shopping cart from behind. YouTube failed to assist the woman in this incident, but YouTube's rules for posting prank videos are controversial.

YouTube Movies

Animated characters have a long tradition of receiving stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In honor of Mickey Mouse's 50th anniversary, a star was presented to him in 1978. The Walk of Fame has been home to nearly twenty additional animated characters since that time. Munchkins and Godzilla are among the other fictional characters on the Walk of Fame. Paul Reubens, a comedian actor, was awarded a star on The Walk of Fame for his performance in "Married... with Children."

YouTube Comedy Duos

The Hollywood Walk of Fame inducts two YouTube comedy teams. This is an example of the changing face of YouTube celebrity. Key and Peele made web series their entire lives, and they have become stars despite not having any traditional backgrounds. Although TV and the web were traditionally thought to be distinct, there are now many premium online content sources. These include Netflix's House of Cards original series as well as Hulu's international offerings.

FAQ

Can I start my own distribution company?

No. It is illegal to legally run a distribution business without being a distributor.

You don't have to distribute films from other people, but you must still follow certain rules.

You can't, for example, charge different prices to different theaters. You can't charge different fees for different customers.

Your services cannot be sold to any company.

Do foreign sales make Hollywood more than domestic sales?

Yes, but only slightly. 2017 foreign revenue accounted for approximately 17%. Domestic revenues accounted to 83%.

More than half of the world’s population lives in foreign markets.

This means that many people, even those who don't watch movies at home, will still want to see yours.

Which percentage of the box offices goes to marketing budgets and what is their share?

Marketing budgets account for approximately 20% to 40% of film budgets. This is because marketing is very important to the success of any film.

Without effective marketing, no one will be able to find out about your film. It is impossible to get people to pay for your film without knowing all about it.

How many movies makes Hollywood each year?

Hollywood studios make approximately 3,000 films annually. Yes, that's correct, three thousand!

These films are marketed by Hollywood, which spends billions of dollars. They spend millions to produce them. They also spend millions on marketing them. How many of these movies do you think end up in theaters?

The answer is probably around 200-300. The question is, what happens to all the other 2,700+ films? Many of the films are either directly-to-video released or left to collect dust in storage vaults.

They are not all destined to be overlooked. Some of these have been selected to be distributed via Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu Plus.

Hence, why aren't there more of them? Why aren't they released in theaters? They're too costly to produce.

And if they were cheaper to produce, they'd be released into theaters.

I can help. I'll help you find the best way for your film to be released in theaters.

I will teach you how to increase your return on investment (ROI), as well as increasing your chances of seeing the movie in theaters.

We have to face it...

It can be very difficult to get your film in theaters. The process can be complex and lengthy.

You may end up spending a lot of money before you get started.

To make matters worse, the window of time during which you can distribute your film is extremely limited.

There is simply not enough time between the end of a film and when it goes on its theatrical run.

Statistics

  • New York Times article stated that only 15% of the top films in 2013 had women in lead acting roles. (en.wikipedia.org)
  • The author of the study noted that "The percentage of female speaking roles has not increased much since the 1940s when they hovered around 25 percent to 28 percent." (en.wikipedia.org)
  • In 2019, that percentage increased to 40 percent. (en.wikipedia.org)
  • Women account for 51 percent of moviegoers. (en.wikipedia.org)
  • If we translate this to a percentage, we get 28%, so let's be generous and say that ‘Hollywood studios' release about ⅓ of the movies released in the U.S. and Canada each year. (glitteratilobotomy.com)

How To

How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce established the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. The HWOF can be found at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.

To become a member of the HWOF, you must submit your name to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then submits your name to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. A bronze plaque with your personalization is also provided. This plaque is affixed to a concrete base in front of the designated star.

If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then charges $25 and forwards the money on to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays any artist or organization that submitted an application. The fee is then paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at $12.50. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs receives the remaining half.

After the artist has been awarded his/her star, they are eligible to join the HWOF. To be eligible for the HWOF, the artist must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce any balance. The amount due will depend on when you were first nominated. You would owe $15,000. If you were first Nominated in 1990, for example. For example, if your first nomination was in 1990, you would owe $15,000. However, if it had been in 1980, you would owe 10,000.

You will need to contact Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be removed from the HWOF. They will take care of removing your name from the list permanently.

How old do you have to be in order to receive a star on HWOF?

Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To receive a star, one must be alive at that time. One can still be nominated after receiving a star after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Nominating you can be done by family members. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce can place a memorial marker next to the star, if there aren't any living relatives.

Why not use a new street, instead of staring at everyone?

The HWOF isn't meant to be an historical monument. It is intended to honor all those who have made film history possible.

What happened to all the stars stolen? The thieves took around 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250-300 lbs, so if you add up all the weight, that comes out to about 4 tons worth of stars!
