Television spin-offs are not new. These spin offs began life as sketches on variety shows. They were eventually made into full-fledged TV series months later. Sometimes the right character or concept makes a spinoff more popular than its original storyline, and it becomes even greater than its predecessor. TV spinoffs, if done well, can open up new paths and create a new realm in pop culture. If they're not done right, viewers might think Hollywood has lost its way.
Xena the Warrior Princess
Xena Warrior Princess, a progressive television series, had feminist overtones. The show featured female leads. Although the TV series featured two female leads, it was unable to break out of fantasy television's male-dominated world. While there were many female directors on the series, only four episodes were directed entirely by women. The writers were open to trying new things, but they chose topics that would keep the show interesting. Many people have enjoyed the Xena TV spinoff.
Count Duckula
DangerMouse the mouse is a spin-off from the classic Count Duckula comic series. Terry Scott voices DangerMouse, who is physically and mentally perfect. He's accompanied with Ernest Penfold (a Watson-like hamster sidekick), and is accompanied by Terry Scott. The story is about the battle between Silas Greenback, an evil baron, and his evil daughter, Countessa.

Legends of Tomorrow
The CW has picked up a new TV spin off of the popular "Arrow" and "Flash" series. Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television produced the series. It stars Caity Lotz and Brandon Routh. Due to the cliché writing style and smug approach to its heroes, the first season was mixed. Legends of Tomorrow reimagined itself through the addition of a time travel premise. Later seasons however, adopted the premise and used its potential to comedy and create wild scenarios.
Green Arrow and the Canaries
The CW has officially canceled Arrow, after months of speculation. The pilot episode that was the penultimate one was intended to serve as a backdoor pilot in a future spinoff. Fans are encouraged however to watch for news about the possible resurrection of Green Arrow, and the Canaries. Juliana Harkavy will reprise her role as Dinah Drake on the show.
Archie Bunker's Place
This spinoff, which is based on Archie, will appeal to fans who loved the original cartoons. It's a great mix of comedy, fantasy, and humour. The story centers on a white middle-aged man who falls in love with a woman who is interested in him. The twist is that the two men are married! This TV spin-off story is based upon the original comic strip. Norman Lear appears on the show.
All in the Family
There have been more television spin-offs based on All In The Family sitcoms than any other. Norman Lear, the creator of All In The Family, went through a difficult and lengthy development process before CBS ultimately picked it up. After two pilots were shot, ABC dropped the show from their list of potential networks. It was recast many times and was almost ignored by the general public when it debut on CBS. Its first season was criticized for its low ratings. The spin-offs continue drawing viewers today.

Dr. Who
Dr. Who was a science fiction television series that featured a robot, a monster, and an evil Time Lord. These evils, like the Daleks were rogue aliens that sought to end all life forms on Earth. The Doctor was loved by many of the TV series' viewers. His battles with these creatures were the basis for many TV spinoffs. These fictional universes are just the beginning. There are more in the works.

Distributors must negotiate with theater owners where their movies will be shown. This can mean that different theaters may charge different prices for a movie. A distributor should have multiple theaters in order to ensure that your movie is seen by as many people possible.
